About the Biodiversity Conservation Contribution Label

The council for the promotion of “Chagusaba in Shizuoka” as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS), certifies Chagusaba practitioners with the aim of raising awareness of environmental conservation, accurately branding teas produced through the Chagusaba method, ensuring the succession of Chagusaba, and revitalizing the region. Farmers practicing the Chagusaba farming method are certified and placed into one of three categories based on the ratio of Chagusaba grassland area they manage to the total area of tea plantations they operate. Certification labels are attached to the tea products they sell.

Additionally, in order to prevent the emergence of non-genuine products, a registration system for sellers has been implemented.
